si-lent night
snow-y night
all is calm,
all is bright...

Not to worry,
we're real good
at snow plowing
around here

Really get away—
the cozy cabin up
on the hill sleeps 11

All that is white in the winter
turns green for the summer

The Great Room and the Great Hearth

circa 1975
Vintage Turn of River Lodge

Room #9 with own bath

has been a home away from home for countless s and other outdoor enthusiasts for more than years. Many guests are regulars who come back year after year and some even come the same days week after week. It is not unusual for adults to return many years later with their own children because of such fond memories of visits in years past.

One of the most loved aspects of is the Great Room and its huge stone hearth. Here, lodgers share the warmth of a roaring fire while sitting on the hearth and drying out their , gloves and on really cold days, their cold backsides. Lodgers commonly share their mountain experiences, where they have been, where they are going, and skiing conditions of the day – all to the gurgling sound of washed gullets of or wine and snack-munching.

It's a BYOB, water or soda facility. Some patrons gather around the central, cable to watch their favorite , , or movie. We have visitors from all over the United States, and indeed, from all over the world. This unpredictable mix makes for lively conversations and fun times.
